Just forget about that help file Dave, it was probably meant for older versions of LGSL, now rendered obsolete by the built-in filtering feature of LGSL5.8
The LGSL "engine" uses a function lgsl_query_group() to get a list of servers from the database. When used with no argument, by default it produces a complete list of ALL existing servers, but if you specify an argument (zone number, game type or whatever) then it will only list a group of servers matching that argument, and this is the filtering feature.
It's so simple to use it will blow your mind: all you have to do is edit lgsl_list.php, find the line

$server_list = lgsl_query_group();

and replace it with

$server_list = lgsl_query_group(array("type"=>$_GET['type']));

like the man said, and then visit the address www.yoursite.com/lgsl/?type=source for example to display a list of servers that have type = CS Source. Voila!

I am curious if this is actualy secure and uses "mysql_real_escape_string" for security ?
