If your running e107, there are new versions out, with important security fixes.

So head over to http://e107.org and make sure your running the latest version.

I got a Canon Pixma MP640 connected via WiFi and decided to try some scanning.

Paintbrush 'From scanner or camera' was greyed out, along with Paint.net's Aquire option.

Picasa detected the scanner and launched the drivers 'ScanGear' but imported photos were all blue !

The solution was to install and use 'MP Navigator EX' which I had missed due to Canon only listing it under Vista.

Navigator also does OCR and was easy to use, except for the buttons looking greyed out when they are not.

After putting up a paypal button, to my suprise people actually sent me a donation once in a while 🙂

All the coding here is done as a hobby, and the money has helped prevent hosting costs becoming a burden.

I decided to go through the code and improve UTF-8 Unicode support ( Non english letters and symbols )

This is not just how they are displayed, but also how they are stored, which importantly solves some MySQL problems.

Other issues were also fixed, and the feed system has been updated, so if you use the feed option, please upgrade.

I'm pleased with this version, speed and reliability improvements have been made to the core code.

So recommend upgrading to all LGSL users, especially those with Half-Life servers.

Please note that Warsow now has two types depending on which version you are running.

Many things I liked about Vista, usb support and no questions during the install, putting the cd key in later, more sensible folder layout, less blurry window movement. But sadly these were tarnished by things like ugly green stripes, performance problems, crappy drivers, software issues, and aggressive UAC. Improvements have come with the service packs, but too late to clear its reputation.

I'm happy to say that Microsoft have done a great job with Windows 7, it has the best bits of Vista, performance equal to XP, a refreshing style, less things to annoy you, and other little changes that make the whole experience pleasant.

Windows 7 works great even on my little Samsung NC10, so I expect it will become standard on netbooks after October. If your not getting your copy through work or piracy, consider buying now as Microsoft are doing pre-order discounts in various countries.

I wanted to make custom attributes accessible from the Users and Computers MMC. The Microsoft acctinfo.dll adds an 'Additional Account Info' tab, so I knew it must be possible.

Unfortunately adding tabs turned out to be complicated, but found instead I could add right click options very easily. Sites I came across all used VBScript, but you can use just about anything, which allows for creating a proper GUI.

This opens up a lot of possibilities, at work the option not only show custom A/D stuff, but also links to other systems, and runs powershell to replace tabs removed in Exchange 2007.
