RWar Update

A long overdue update to RWar, like lgsl I decided to put the more complex feature updates on a back burner and fix up the essentials.

RWar 1.3 is now available for download

Changes:

– 0.7 squad / sides fix, since my bug has been qeued for over a month now, I decided to give up waiting and add in a workaround.

– 0.7 workaround for pages not redirecting due to core code having blank spaces, which messes up changing the header.

– Added dashes ( – ) to be allowed in custom map names, this is mainly for UT clans since there map names used them alot.

– Added back option to set the default IRC channel, handy if you find yourself entering quakenet.org all the time.

– Added icons and images from lgsl for new popular games, like bf2, dod source, farcry and swat 4, and updated images for existing games.

Now even more updates as of now:

– Fixed bug where using the 'add me' button could give a mysql error

– Increased maxlength for clantags from 10 to 20 characters

– Long Screenshot and Demo links will be shortened to avoid stretching the site.

– Screenshot and Demo section will not be shown if empty

– Changed to mysql_real_esape_string which respects different languages

LGSL Updates

I did not have time to do everything I wanted, but I wanted to get some of the smaller updates out asap.

LGSL e107 2.3 and LGSL SA 1.7 are availabe for download

Note worthy changes:

– Added DOD source icon and images
– Added image for the new BF2 map wake island 2007
– Fixed the e107 version showing escaping ( slashes ) after an update

Also a new feature for those who have branding on the front of their server name, you can now set in the index/menu/module $lgsl_hostname_shorten to 2 which will chop short the front instead of the end ( right to the left )

Initial CityLink Ballshit

Having had a previous bad experience with citylink, I thought they deserve a second chance, so I put my doubts aside and even paid extra for a Saturday delivery.

Having now cancelled plans to go out, I have sat here, patiently, in my room above the frontdoor, while keeping one eye on the road, and the other on the web-based tracking.

To my surprise I find the status changes to "There was no one to receive the goods at the delivery point so a card was left"

Really ? Would this be the new invisible card ? With an invisible van and driver ? Must be just a mistake, so phone the local depot, ring, ring, ring. Phone the customer service, voicemail. Phone the headoffice, voicemail.

Its seems im not alone:

So if you live in the UK, make sure you check who is delivering your order

Wireless Access Point with no Router

Scenario:

My friend has a PC upstairs needs internet access, but no money spare for some wireless kit.

I have an old Wireless Access Point ( WAP ) and a Wireless USB adapter spare, but no router.

The downstairs PC is connected to the modem by USB, so the network port is available.

Solution:

Downstairs USB Modem already has a fixed IP of 192.168.1.1

Downstairs Network Card set to fixed IP of 192.168.2.2 and standard subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Wireless Access Point is connected directly to Network Card by using a cable with a Cross Over Cable Adapter

Downstairs Wireless Access Point set to fixed IP of 192.168.2.1

The downstairs Network Card and USB Modem connections were selected and then set to be bridged

Upstairs Wireless USB Adapter is set to fixed IP of 192.168.2.3, standard subnet mask, Default Gateway and DNS set to the IP of the USB Modem

Problems Encountered:

The Network Card must use a different subnet from the modem otherwise the internet stops working.

The WAP was setup to get an IP from DHCP, so to access the configuration, I temporarily ran http://tftpd32.jounin.net/

Toggling Internet Connection broke the link between the two PC, so instead connection bridging was used.

Thoughts:

It was a good learning experience for me, but buying a Wireless Router is far more sensible.

LGSL Update

I got the urge to code, so here is another update for you.

LGSL e107 2.2 and LGSL SA 1.6 are now available

So what are the main changes ?

– Added SWAT4 and Painkiller support with some map images
– Added option to hide offline servers for the index
– Added option to hide offline, full, empty for the menu/module
– Fixed halflife2 server settings being messed up.
– Fixed the feed saying offline servers were not on the feed list
– Added css link styling to the standalone, now hovers red

– Added path option to the index, players, settings pages, which make its easier for people who want to move or integrate those pages with another, such as a CMS custom page.

Enjoy 🙂

Deleting Items from a Context Menus

Programs can add extra options when you right click on a file or folder ( such as compress to zip )

Most of the time you can customise these from within the software itself. However some programs do not give you the choice, can leave behind options after uninstalling, or cause a delay before the menu appears.

I found 'tools' to edit context menus to poor, but luckily the options are easy to remove by editing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of the registry.

For all files and folders
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

For folders
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

For drives in My Computer
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Whats your Battle Cry

Hark! Who is that, sprinting out of the mini-mall parking lot! It is Richard Perry, hands clutching a sharpened screwdriver! And with a vengeful howl, his voice cometh:

"I'm going to make tacos with your corpse!!!"

Download Gallery

Dallery 1.3 is available for download

The menu now shows a random thumbnail from the downloads.

See it in action at http://number-7.com

Also includes other minor and CVS improvements.

What is the LGSL Feed System ?

In short its a nifty way to get round firewall issues on certain hosts.

Detailed Explanation here:

http://www.greycube.com/site/forum_viewtopic.php?3.1535

I currently have it being demonstrated on the right. It looks and works exactly like a regular LGSL, except instead of getting the information directly from the server, its using a copy of LGSL running on my greycube.net test site 🙂

Wallpaper

I was searching for images for a new film called 'Aeon Flux' starring 'Charlize Theron' and stumbled across this wallpaper site that does female celebrities, movies, and cars.

http://www.skins.be

What made this site stand out is its pure quality. All the wallpapers look professionally made, and the majority are available in 1600×1200 res.

I definitely recommend you check it out 🙂
